Fourth-Generation Kansan Seeking Re-Election in District 74

Mike King is a fourth-generation Kansan who still lives on the family farm just outside of Hesston. Nearly a century ago, his grandfather moved from farming and carpentry into full-time construction across the state — planting a seed that Mike has carried forward ever since.

That passion for building and entrepreneurship shaped Mike’s career. He went on to work in large business and owned several construction-related companies of his own, including King Enterprise Group, which he sold to Hutton in 2012.

Faith and family remain the two pillars of Mike’s life. Hesston MB is his home church, and he has been married to his wife, Peggy, for more than 40 years. Together they’ve raised four children and welcomed three sons-in-law and four grandchildren.

Mike’s path into public service began with his appointment as Kansas Secretary of Transportation. That experience led him to Topeka as the State Representative for District 74 following the 2024 election cycle — and today he is seeking to continue that work through re-election in 2026.
